On my last day in Belgium I was thinking about visiting Brugge again. But a friend of mine suggested me of going to a new destination: Ghent. I wasn't sure what to do, but I followed my instinct and bought a ticket to that mysterious city. And I don't regret nothing.
A lot of Ghent's medieval architecture is still intact and well preserved. All its little alleys, the streets, bridges and canals, makes Ghent an unique city in Belgium. Everywhere you look in Ghent's centrum will amaze you and make you fall in love as it did to me. I remember I was walking near the cathedral (Baafskathedraal), completely shocked by the beauty of the place. I kept walking, immersed in my thoughts, when I cross a street and saw a big castle, The Gravensteen. I was speechless. I couldn't say a word, I just kept staring at the amazing building.
Ghent has a special place in my heart. Watching a a lot of students cycling to school, all the cafés, how nice the people was with me when I asked for directions, and being my last stop in Belgium (and also of my trip, I went to Belgium twice).
This is a city for quiet people. For people who likes to find shelter on a café when it's raining. Or go inside a castle, a museum, a restaurant. Or just to wander and stare at all the hidden corners this city offers.
