Last year I had the great opportunity to cross out of my bucket list, my number one country: Iceland.
It was April, and I had a full time job at an engineer's office (I know, strange, huh?), when I suddenly had this crazy idea: I should make a trip.. and yeah, why not to Iceland?
I researched on the internet how to get there, accommodations, dates, options.. and a month later I was landing in the dreamy country.
I arrived to Keflavík Airport very early in the morning and with just a couple of hours of sleep. But I was happy, I was there: Iceland!
I took the flybus to Reykjavík. It was 45 minutes of a desert landscape until the bus made the first stop in the city.
I stayed at the KEX Hostel, the most hipster hostel in Scandinavia. It was such an experience staying there; you can either meet tourists and travelers —as me—, or have a beer with locals.
Reykjavík is a very small and charming city. Colorful houses in the city center, The main street - Laugavegur- full of boutiques, restaurants and cafés, the sweet smell of the air, the wind blowing, rain every half an hour, strollers with babies outside restaurants..
I get nostalgic every time I come across these pictures. This city was very kind to me. Icelanders are super polite and they always want to help!
If you're planning a trip to Iceland I suggest to stay in the capital for three or four days (it's enough for a traveler). Then rent a car.. and drive across the ring road!
